ClickUp pricing starts from $5 per user, per month for the Unlimited plan, making it one of the cheapest project management tools for small businesses. For this reason, we awarded ClickUp 4.4/5 for pricing in our independent research.

Larger teams may want to choose the Business plan costing $12 per user, per month while companies with multiple teams should opt for the Business Plus plan at $19 per user, per month.

On the whole, we found ClickUp very impressive awarding it 4.6/5 overall. Its collaboration features could be stronger, but it still achieved the joint best scores for Task Management (4.9/5) and Data Visualization (5/5) of any software we tested. It’s also our highest-rated platform for Gantt chart templates.

ClickUp Pricing Plans

Below, we’ve broken down ClickUp’s pricing plans in more detail.

ClickUp Free Forever Plan – Free

Free Forever is ClickUp’s basic plan. As the name suggests, it’s totally free to use. Ideal for individual users or very small teams – it includes some really impressive features. For starters, you can create unlimited projects and spaces, add unlimited users, and access 24/7 customer support – all for free.

On the downside, ClickUp’s Free Forever plan limits you to just 100MB storage and 100 Gantt charts, which won’t be enough for most growing businesses. Meanwhile, you can’t integrate Google Drive or Dropbox, or access Cloud Storage on this plan.

In all honesty, the fact that ClickUp even offers Gantt charts on its most basic plan is impressive. To get unlimited Gantt charts, however, you’ll need to upgrade to the Unlimited plan, which costs just a few extra dollars per month.

ClickUp Unlimited – $5 per user per month

Unlimited is the next plan up, which costs $5 per user, per month when billed annually. As the name suggests, you get unlimited access to many features, including storage, integrations, dashboards, and Gantt charts, as well as advanced reporting and live chat support. You can’t create timesheets, and you’re restricted to 1,000 automations per month and 10 whiteboards – which are both unlimited on the higher plans. But the Unlimited plan would suit your small team if you find the Free Forever plan too restrictive. Overall, it’s excellent value for money at just a few dollars per user, per month.

ClickUp Business – $12 per user per month

Ideal for medium-sized teams, the Business plan costs $12 per user, per month when billed annually. It offers everything you get in the Unlimited plan, plus 10,000 automations per month, and various security features like two-factor authentication and the ability to sign-in via a Google account, which is known as Google SSO (single sign on).

Unlike the Unlimited plan, you get KPI trackers and resource management charts, which are destined to help you track your teams’ performance more efficiently. If you want even more freedom, such as custom permissions and priority support, you’ll need to upgrade to the Business Plus plan.

If you have a multi-team business, we suggest you pick either the Business or Business Plus plan over the Unlimited plan. It’ll make your project management tasks that much quicker and easier.

Business Plus – $19 per user per month

The Business Plus plan costs $19 per user, per month when billed annually. It includes everything in the Business plan, plus a variety of features to help you manage projects across multiple teams, such as custom role creation, custom permissions, and 25,000 automations per month.

You should pick this plan over the Business plan if you want to grow your medium-sized business and want more customization over your system. And for just $7 extra per user, per month, it’s a cost-effective upgrade if you want to take your project management to the next level.

ClickUp’s Business Plus plan is much cheaper compared to its rival’s equivalent plans. That’s just another reason why ClickUp gained an impressive Pricing score in our research.

ClickUp Enterprise –  bespoke pricing

Lastly, there’s the bespoke Enterprise plan. Unlike the other ClickUp pricing plans, you need to call the ClickUp sales team directly and organize a price. The price will depend on what you need and the size of your business.

This plan is for large businesses – it includes everything in the Business plans, plus HIPAA compliance, custom onboarding and supporting, and increased API limits to help you customize your system even further. You’ll also have the ability to sign-in with accounts from multiple systems, not just Google.

ClickUp’s Key Features Explained

  • Real-time collaboration – work with colleagues in real time
  • Time tracking – track time, set estimates, and view reports of your time
  • Reporting features – monitor productivity through detailed reports
  • Customized templates for individuals and teams – pick themed templates for categories like IT, Marketing, or Creative & Design

Pros

  • Comprehensive task and workflow tools
  • Generous free plan
  • Unlimited users on all plans

Cons

  • Not the easiest-to-use platform we tested
  • Could offer more post-project feedback features
  • There are platforms with better collaboration tools

Pro: Comprehensive Task and Workflow Tools

In our testing, we awarded ClickUp 4.9/5 for Task Management and 4.3/5 for Project Creation and Workflow, which are key features for any project management software. These are the joint top scores of all 14 platforms we tested.

Pro: Generous Free Plan

On ClickUp’s Free Forever plan, you can create unlimited projects, add unlimited users, access 24/7 customer support, and use 100 Gantt charts – all for free. This is much more than what you’d get on free plans elsewhere, such as monday.com. That’s why ClickUp gained 4.4/5 for Pricing in our research. This is what makes ClickUp an excellent alternative to Asana and other competitors.

Pro: Unlimited Users on all Plans

You can get every team member involved in projects whenever you like, even on the Free Forever plan. This is a huge advantage for small teams looking to grow quickly.

Con: Not The Easiest-to-Use Platform we Tested

Other platforms we tested gained higher Usability scores in our testing, including monday.com (4.1/5) and Smartsheet (4.3/5). ClickUp still scored 4/5 for Usability, but there are more user-friendly options out there.

Con: Could Offer More Post-Project Feedback Features

There are limited post-project features, which could make it difficult to reflect on tasks and make improvements for future projects. For instance, you can’t hold retro sessions or gather feedback.

Con: There are Alternatives with Better Collaboration Tools

ClickUp scored just 3/5 for Collaboration. If you don’t already have a third-party comms platform within your team, you might find other project management systems that better cater to your communicative needs.

Our results showed that Smartsheet slightly outperformed ClickUp on usability, and monday.com scored highly in customer satisfaction. Asana, monday.com, and ClickUp all shared the podium for their outstanding features. It still stands that ClickUp has the most affordable paid plan out of all its competitors. How Did We Compare ClickUp to its Competitors?

We have a dedicated insights team who carries out data-driven research into all the software and services we write about. Our experts find the best providers on the market, rigorously test them first-hand, then collaborate with our team of expert writers. This allows us to create research-backed articles about ClickUp’s pricing.

For our project management software category, our researchers tested 14 different platforms, from newbies like ClickUp to old timers like Jira. They put each software through its paces, comparing each one and rating them out of five in specific areas. Those research areas are:

  • Usability – the user experience and simplicity of tasks
  • Pricing – the software’s value for money
  • Customer Support – the available customer support options
  • Features – broken down into Task Management, Project & Management Workflow Creation, Data Visualization, and Collaboration
  • Customer Score – aggregate of consumer scores on sites like G2 and Trustpilot
Verdict

At only $5 per month when billed annually, ClickUp’s pricing places it as one of the most cost-effective project management platforms out there, outperforming big names such as monday.com, Asana, and Wrike. With brilliant task management and data visualization potential, if you want bang for your buck – go for ClickUp.

With inflation rates looming, many customers will prioritise price in their decision, but if it’s usability you’re after, then Smartsheet or monday.com slightly outshines ClickUp. Nevertheless, it remains a seriously impressive candidate, well deserving of its award of 4.6/5 overall in our testing – the joint top score of any platform.
