How Much Does Hostinger’s Website Builder Cost?

Screenshot of AI prompts in Hostinger AI website builder

Although it’s a relative newcomer to the website-building space, Hostinger has already earned a spot in our picks for the best website builders, owing to its low price and focus on generative AI to speed up the creation process.

Hostinger’s website builder plans cost as little as £2.99 per month, one of the lowest prices on the market, and only go up to a maximum of £14.99 per month for its Business Website Builder plan, which offers ecommerce features.

Read on for a detailed review of each of Hostinger’s website builder plans, as we explore billing cycles, hidden fees and value for money.

Hostinger Website Builder Pricing: How Much Do Plans Cost?

Hostinger only offers two website builder plans, far fewer than the average four to five offered by competitors. Prices range from £2.99 to £14.99 per month, with your chosen billing cycle length affecting the overall cost. Shorter billing cycles, such as paying month-to-month, cost more, while longer ones, such as paying upfront for four years, cost less.

Here’s what both Hostinger website builder plans cost:

Hostinger Premium Website Builder: £2.99-£11.99 per month

  • What is it? A basic AI website builder for making simple websites.
  • Who is it for? Hobbyists creating a personal website or small businesses looking to create a basic informational page.
  • Why should you use it? Hostinger’s generative AI makes it easy to create a website quickly with limited technical knowledge.
  • How much does it cost? £11.99 per month when paying month-to-month, £2.99 per month for the first year of a four-year billing cycle.

Hostinger’s cheapest website builder plan is called Premium Website Builder and costs £2.99 to £11.99 per month, depending on the length of your billing cycle. This can be confusing, so here’s a summary of each billing cycle and its costs:

  • Monthly: £11.99/month
  • 1 year: £3.49/month for first term, renews at £10.99/month
  • 2 years: £3.29/month for first term, renews at £10.99/month
  • 4 years: £2.99/month for first term, renews at £10.99/month

Premium Website Builder features

Regardless of your billing cycle, with a Hostinger Premium Website Builder subscription, you’ll get access to the following features:

  • AI website builder + 150 templates
  • Free domain for one year (worth £8.99)
  • Drag and drop editor
  • Up to 25 websites
  • Google Ads app
  • Seven integrations (Google apps, WhatsApp, Meta Pixel)

Hostinger Premium Website Builder: Who is it for?

Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder is a good option for users who want to create a personal website, to showcase a hobby, for example, or small businesses that need to create a basic informational website. It’s an especially good fit for users with limited technical skills who don’t want to spend a long time creating their website, since Hostinger’s AI website builder does most of the heavy lifting.

That said, we wouldn’t recommend Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder plan to individuals or businesses that have ambitions to create anything beyond an informational website.

That’s because it doesn’t come with any ecommerce features or any additional generative AI tools besides the website builder (those are on the Business Website Builder Plan). Plus, unlike rivals Wix and Squarespace, Hostinger doesn’t have an app store, so integrations are limited to Google Ads and a few others.

If you’re looking to create a blog, online store or membership website, or to run complicated marketing campaigns from your site, Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder plan won’t be enough. You’ll need to upgrade to the Business Website Builder plan or go with a rival website builder, such as Wix or Squarespace.

Hostinger Business Website Builder: £3.99-£14.99 per month

  • What is it? An AI website builder with ecommerce capabilities and expanded generative AI tools.
  • Who is it for? Small businesses that are looking to create a website quickly and easily with the help of generative AI.
  • Why should you use it? Hostinger’s generative AI lets users quickly populate their website with content, from images to blog posts.
  • How much does it cost? £14.99 per month when paying month-to-month, £3.99 per month for the first year of a four-year billing cycle.

Business Website Builder is Hostinger’s only other website builder plan, and costs £3.99 to £14.99 per month, depending on the length of your billing cycle. Here’s a summary of each billing cycle and its costs:

  • Monthly: £14.99/month
  • 1 year: £4.49/month for first term, renews at £13.99/month
  • 2 years: £4.29/month for first term, renews at £13.99/month
  • 4 years: £3.99/month for first term, renews at £13.99/month

Business Website Builder features

Hostinger’s Business Website Builder plan comes with the same features as the Premium Website Builder, plus the following extras:

  • Up to 50 websites (instead of 25)
  • AI image generator, AI writer, AI blog generator, AI SEO tool, AI logo maker and AI product page generator
  • Ecommerce features (accept payments, sell up to 600 products, schedule appointments and automate email notifications)

The main difference between Hostinger’s Business Website Builder and its Premium Website Builder is that the former lets users sell products and services online, and comes with more generative AI tools to speed up content creation, such as an AI writer.

Hostinger Business Website Builder: Who is it for?

Hostinger’s Business Website Builder plan is a good option for small businesses looking to create a website quickly and easily using generative AI.

The Business Website Builder plan is more suited to businesses than the Premium Website Builder. The addition of ecommerce tools and generative AI tools to help with content creation and SEO (search engine optimisation) means businesses can better serve their customers through their Hostinger site, and make sure that it can easily be found online.

The additional generative AI tools featured on the Business Website Builder plan make it a great option for businesses looking to delegate most of the creative process, since you can use Hostinger’s AI to write copy for your website, such as an ‘About Us’ section,  a blog post and even product listings, all based on the prompts you feed it.

That said, Hostinger’s Business Website Builder has its limits. It’s not a good option for ecommerce-focused businesses looking to grow an online store, since Hostinger’s limited integrations make omnichannel selling difficult. Plus, Hostinger’s email marketing tools are quite limited and it doesn’t have dedicated scheduling software for businesses looking to sell services.

For alternative website builders with a wider set of ecommerce and marketing tools, we recommend Wix, Shopify and Squarespace.

Hostinger Billing Cycles and Discounts Explained

Hostinger offers four different billing cycles:

  • Monthly: Pay month-to-month for your subscription
  • One year: Pay for one year upfront (discount on the first year and renews at a lower price than monthly billing)
  • Two years: Pay for two years upfront (discount on the first two years and renews at a lower price than monthly billing)
  • Four years: Pay for four years upfront (discount on the first four years and renews at a lower price than monthly billing)

Let’s look at Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder plan as an example. On a four-year billing cycle, the Premium Website Builder plan only costs £2.99 per month for four years, compared with £11.99 per month on a monthly billing cycle.

But you need to pay £143.88 (£2.99 x 12 months x 4 years) upfront, and when the contract renews at £10.99 (still a discounted price compared with monthly billing), you’ll need to pay £527.52 (£10.99 x 12 months x 4 years) upfront every four years.

Paying month-to-month is a good option if you don’t want to commit to using Hostinger as your website builder long term. However, you’ll miss out on the discounts offered on longer billing cycles.

The longer your billing cycle, the bigger your first term discount is, and the longer your discount will last. That said, paying for between one to four years upfront is a hefty upfront cost.

Does Hostinger Have a Free Website Builder Plan?

Hostinger does not offer a free website builder plan, but both its paid plans come with a seven-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee on your subscription. So, if you find that Hostinger isn’t your cup of tea, you can cancel your subscription and get a refund of the fees.

Although many website builders don’t offer free plans, many do, including Wix and GoDaddy, some of the best free website builders on the market. Both website builders offer generous free plans that include content creation tools such as email and social media post design studios.

Does Hostinger’s Website Builder Have Any Hidden Costs?

Like all website builders, Hostinger has a few hidden costs, mainly the cost of a domain name and a business email.

Here are the hidden costs to look out for:

  • Custom domain name (approximately £8-£48 a year, although free for you first year with a Hostinger website builder subscription)
  • Business email (£2.99-£4.99 depending on Hostinger email plan and email marketing also costs extra, although Hostinger does not specify the cost)
  • Third-party payment processing fees (if using ecommerce function)
  • Mandatory taxes (including VAT)

How Does Hostinger’s Website Builder Pricing Compare With Competitors?

Hostinger has a similar starting price to competitors. However, its maximum price of £14.99 per month is much cheaper than most website builders. Here’s a side-by-side look:

Is Hostinger good value for money?

Hostinger offers decent value for money. Not counting its massively discounted first terms, its plans range from £10.99-£14.99 per month, which is lower than most rivals.

Its Business Website Builder plan is especially good value for businesses looking to sell online for less, since at £14.99 per month (£13.99 renewal on long billing cycles), it’s less than what most competitor ecommerce plans cost. Shopify’s cheapest ecommerce plan is £29 per month, for example, and Wix’s is £16 per month.

That said, if you’re just looking to build a simple website with no ecommerce function, you can get better value than Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder plan.

Wix and GoDaddy, for example, both have free plans with more extensive content creation features than Hostinger’s paid plan (they offer content creation studios powered by AI). Wix’s cheapest plan is also cheaper than Hostinger’s, at £9 per month.

Methodology: How We Assess Hostinger’s Website Builder Pricing

We've tested and researched 16 market-leading website builders, evaluating their functionality, usability, integrations and customer support so we can make the most useful recommendations to businesses.

Our rigorous testing process means these products have been scored and rated in six main categories of investigation and 33 subcategories. We then gave each category score a ‘relevance weighting' to ensure the product's final score perfectly reflects the needs and requirements of Expert Market readers.

Our main testing categories for website builders are:

  • Website features: The capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, marketing capacity and AI tools.
  • Design functionality: The aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates, customisable themes and content display tools (accordions, tabs, etc.).
  • Ease of use: How user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Value for money: The balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models and available features.
  • Reputation: External customer opinion; the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder – the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
  • Help and support: The assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder. This can include tutorials, knowledge bases, and email or chat support.
Verdict: Is Hostinger good value?

Hostinger offers affordable website builder plans, with its cheapest price of £2.99 per month being one of the lowest on the market. Plus, its smart use of generative AI means it is easy for non-tech-savvy users to create a website quickly with Hostinger.

That being said, if you have big goals for your website, such as growing your online presence or running a marketing operation, you can get better value from Hostinger competitors, such as Wix or Squarespace. That’s because Hostinger’s website builder is missing an app store for easy integration of extra tools, and doesn’t offer many built-in tools for marketing or content creation.

But, if you’re looking for a relatively cheap, quick and easy way to get online, Hostinger is a great option.
