This map shows which heads of state and government around the world president Obama and vice president Biden have been telephoning in 2015.
It clearly highlights which countries the White House is attempting to publically support, such as Ukraine. Although it is illuminating to see that while Joe Biden has called Ukraine 13 times, Obama has called only once.
Obama has made the most phone calls to German Chancellor, Angela Merkell. Michelle needn’t get too worried just yet however, as most of these calls were made to discuss the recent crisis in the Ukraine.
Perhaps what is even more interesting are the countries that Obama hasn’t called such as Iraq which, considering recent conflicts, is quite surprising.
Some major countries that didn’t receive a single call from either the Vice President or the President himself were; Australia, Canada, Mexico, both Koreas, New Zealand and most of the South American Continent!
About the data
This data was taken from www.whitehouse.gov which publicizes phone calls made to other world leaders. It covers all calls made by Obama and Biden since January 1st 2015 til todays date.
This is publically available data which won’t include phone calls made ‘off the books’ which, we’re sure, are numerous.
